Breeders’ Education – Dr Modiano

Golden Retrievers are one of the most beloved dog breeds in the world, known for their friendly demeanor and loyal companionship. But like any breed, we have some health issues for which the Golden Retriever Foundation is actively pursuing, including early detection of hemangiosarcoma, and treating with tactical drugs. Research in the field of breeding that focuses on this disease is incredibly important to help prevent or even cure this devastating illness. By studying the genetic makeup of Golden Retrievers and identifying any mutations that may increase the risk of hemangiosarcoma, we can take proactive steps to reduce its prevalence in the breed. Ultimately, this research will not only benefit Golden Retrievers, but other breeds as well, by shedding light on the complex interactions between genetics and cancer.

We are very exited to once again host Dr Jaime Modiano VMD, PhD, Perlman Professor of Oncology and Comparative Medicine, Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at the University of Minnesota, who will speak about the Shine On project and provide an update on hemangiosarcoma.
